There is a geometry to deception that self-help refuses to acknowledge. It is not linear. The lie does not travel from mouth to ear in a straight line. It enters through a corridor you built yourself. A corridor of need, of unexamined want, of a self you have not yet permissioned into the room. I am not interested in the morality of the liar. Morality is easy. It is the terrain of children and courts. I am interested in the epistemology of the deceived, what you come to know, and how you come to know it, after the structure you trusted dissolves.
